DHS G666 Rubber Review

DHS G666 rubber was developed in 2003. The excellent combination of intermolecular chemical forces makes the rubber soft and rich in tension. It has stable viscosity and a special elastic sponge, which produces super friction and ensures a very steady shot. Such construction effectively improves the player’s ability to control the ball.

The rubber comes with a very tacky surface, and its stickiness is long-lasting under the great function of a molecule. Also, DHS G666 offers you super friction with a unique flexible sponge to maximize player’s controllability.

More Information About DHS G666

DHS G666 is a high-performance Chinese rubber with a low price (under $ 20). Physically, like most Chinese rubbers, it comes with a pretty hard sponge and high tackiness.

Even though its material is pretty similar to DHS Hurricane, this rubber has a softer surface and less tackiness. While DHS G666 is lighter than DHS Hurricane 3, it is still relatively heavy compared to other modern Japanese rubbers.

Speed

Regarding speed, while DHS G666 offers you quite a fair speed with good power, it has slightly less speed than Hurricane 3 and significantly slower than other offensive rubbers likeย Tenergy 05, Yasaka Rakza 7, etc.

The relatively slow speed could, however, enhances its controllability as well as defensive ability. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a crazy-speed rubber, DHS G666 is not a good one for you.

Control

In terms of control, DHS G666 gives you superb control, touch, and feel. Even though the DHS Hurricane 3 is one of the best for control, I would say this rubber is slightly better, but it sacrifices its speed and power.

Besides, DHS G666 is also less sensitive for an incoming spin ball from your opponent and also offers you a bit more consistency due to less tackiness. So it is also suitable for a modernย defensive strategy.

Furthermore, G666 allows you to perform a counter-attack and block with high precision and more forgiving for your mistakes. It means it still allows you to return quite a fine ball even with improper stroke or technique.

Spin

Regarding spin ability, DHS G666 is rock. It allows you to perform a very decent topspin loop with a high throw angle and proper dwell time (slightly higher throw angle than Hurricane 3). You can generate monstrous spin with minimal effort and much more forgiving than Hurricane 3.

Backspin

However, the backspin power is slightly less than its fellow due to less tackiness but still quite impressive. Given the fact that it comes with a very low price, even though it’s spin power is slightly less than other upmarket rubbers like Tenergy 05, Nittaku Narucross EX soft, or Butterfly Spin Art, it is by far more cost-effective.

This rubber can be used to perform an excellent arc technique close to the table. It is a perfect rubber for players playing at a fast speed.

The quality of the arc generated by this rubber in the table is very high, and the arc can be generated very quickly.

The control ability of the arc in the table is also excellent. It is possible to make a shot with a very low arc. When playing mid-table, the contradiction between the fast arc shot and the drop control is effectively solved.

The main difference between G666 and Hurricane 3

The most significant feature of G666 pips in rubber is that it is very sticky. It is more sticky than the Hurricane 3 rubber. The official launch of the G666 rubber is later than the Hurricane 3 pips in rubber.

At the same time, it can be used as a forehand rubber to play with the combination of arc and fast attack at the mid and far table.

The overall performance is close to Hurricane 3, but it is more prominent in the arc’s performance. The hardness of the rubber is 39 and 40.

Conclusion

G666 rubber is softer than Hurricane 3 and looks a little transparent.

I feel that the stickiness of the G666 rubber is better than Hurricane 3. G666 rubber is not very dependent on glue, so it is very suitable for players who don’t like glue for their rubber.

In terms of attacking, the speed of the G666 is not as fast as Hurricane 3, but the control of the drop point when performing fast attacking is more effortless than Hurricane 3.

If you think Hurricane 3 is a “wild” rubber, then the G666 is standard. The most prominent features of the G666 rubber is easy to control and has good friction. The unique elastic sponge plus a good tension top sheet, making it easier for users to generate spin.

It is effortless to do a flick on the table. Whether you do a chop, playing short or long ball, the player can predict how the shot will go.

The hit rate of the inner and lower spins is also very high. And the arc generated by this rubber is very low but is not as powerful as Hurricane 3, and the attacking power is not as good as Hurricane 3.

Overall, G666 rubber is another masterpiece of DHS. It was once used as a unique forehand rubber for Wang Hao. If you can play very well close to the table, and your swing speed is fast enough, then it is ideal for you to use this rubber. This little weapon can offer you a consistent attack that can make your opponent suffocate.

Overall, DHS G666 is a very cost-effective rubber and easy to use. It offers you decent spin power and good controllability, but it sacrifices speed and power. Due to its controllability and forgiveness, it is highly recommended for intermediate players who prefer control and spin overpower.
