Donic Waldner Legend Carbon Blade Review

The Donic Waldner Legend Carbon Blade is very light in weight, making it possible for players to play fast. It features a larger “sweet spot” than other similar blades, which offers players premium control.

Donic develops it as an offensive blade that is designed with high-speed and extremely lightweight.

It has a large sweet spot, which ensures the corresponding control of the blade. The blade has been delicately designed. It is especially suitable for offensive players who play close to the table and control the game.

The Making of The Blade

The blade is constructed in 5-ply of wood and carbon with the Hinoki outer ply that is integrated with carbon layers and soft inner ply. With such design, it gives a form and stiffness for the blade to produce excellent topspin. It can be one of the fastest fivefold timber constructed bats that is slightly thicker but lighter to hold in hand.

Ideal to Match With Bluefire M1 Rubber

The perfect combination that you can get to play a good gesture with them is withย Bluefire M1ย rubber. You can attach M1 rubber on both sides, with red on one side and black on the other side. It is the maximum sponge with extremely tacky sticky rubber that you can have with the blade.

For this Donic Waldner Legend Carbon, the speed ratings are 96, and spin is 96. The control is just 65, which is much lower obviously and seems to be something that you need to sacrifice if you want to have this blade.

Specification:

  • Speed: 96
  • Spin: 96
  • Control: 65
  • Plies: 5-ply, Kiso Hinoki, Kiri + 2 carbon layers
  • Handle shapes: straight, concave
  • Weight: 85g

It has been a great paddle with the features of medium weight. The carbon blade seems to add some weight to the blade, which offers you some naturally quick speed.

It is featured with a wider head, making it possible to generate a lot of spin toward the ball and thus make it increasingly difficult for the opponent to receive and return the ball. You don’t need to adjust too much of your playing style to match the paddle.

Great Playing Experience For You

It has a great spin, so if you are an aggressive forehand player, it can also offer you really good backhand pushes. You can do very good defensive shots, and the ball will be able to stick to it nicely. You can whips around it without too much effort.

You will get a basic flare for the standard shake hand that you generally receive for most of the shake hand blades by having this blade. You can do some sand down on the handle if you think it is too rough or uneven for you to have a good grip on it. You can sand it down to make it smoother.

Once you get the paddle and play with it for a while, you can control the ball in the direction that you want it to go without any issue.

This Donic Waldner Legend Carbon Blade is especially recommended for offensive players who are good at playing topspin with a counter-attack. The ideal blade for any player level doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or advanced player. This blade can match you and give you a lot of speed and spin that you wish to have.

My Experience With The Blade

It is not an easy blade to get used to. It is not recommended for beginners who do not have a certain foundation in playing ping pong.

When I first took out the carbon blade from the postal bag, I felt a sudden empty feeling in my hand. The blade was lighter than I thought. The pivot is adjusted through the hollow handle and the old tile type, very close to the palm’s root.

Although the handle is very thin, it offers a good grip and feel. After applying the rubber, it feels very balanced. The weight is evenly distributed throughout the palm, and there is no obvious concentration.

When I play with this blade, the vibration is very obvious. This thin blade can convey the feeling of vibration and rotation of each ball to the palm. The F1 rubber has very good traction. I can feel the ball is bounced out extremely when the rubber is in contact with the ball.

The whole process is very clear, and there is no ambiguity. In the forehand attack, you can effectively exert your strength and hit the ball to every corner as you like.

The blade is very good at playing the backhand stroke, but because the sponge is soft, it looks very faceless and does not conform to my backhand style. I think it should be considered to change a more crisp rubber.

In terms of the forehand arc, since the blade is rigid, the punch’s speed is extremely fast. In observing playing with friends, we agree that the speed is equal to or even greater than the carbon applied under the same formulation.

Because the blade is light in weight, you can swing with a smaller motion, so it is more sudden and can make a very quick shot.

Moreover, the relatively light weight of the blade makes the feeling of impact to be insufficient. The ball is light, the speed is fast, but the impact is not enough.

The backhand loop is not so good.

The use of a carbon blade requires excellent continuous attack capability and control of the ball. If you don’t have the basic skill, you can’t play well with this blade.

When I bought this blade, I beat the opponents under my level and scored with the play of shot to every angle of the table.

However, when playing with players who are of similar playing level or even higher than me, due to the low power of the hedging, I would gradually suppress the spin after several consecutive looping.

If I can’t find a way to beat my opponent during the rally, it is absolutely difficult to avoid being lost in the game. However, players with good footwork and control can constantly look for the opponent’s weaknesses and make a quick attack to beat the opponent. The blade is a weapon that can help them to make such a move.

In short, the Donic Waldner Legend Carbon Blade is a weapon that matches my playing style.

This blade makes me have an even better understanding of table tennis on the spin and control. But I can’t improve my control with this blade even after playing with it for a while. Maybe later, as the age and skills improve, I will take out this blade to find a new feeling.

If you are looking for this blade, you can get it from Megaspin.
